In my own opinion – Maui is the ultimate island to live on if you have the money to fly to Oahu often for shopping, nightlife, or other things you crave that you won’t get on Maui. Maui is filled with good people, and the most beautiful scenery. There is less to do on Maui than Oahu – but, that’s OK because the lack of crowds at the most beautiful spots make it all worth it. Though sources say that Makaweli is the safest place to live in Hawaii, it is no longer known by that name, but instead by Kaumakai, a small town with a population of approximately 600 located on the southern shore of Kauai. 2) Kalaupapa, Molokai Oahu offers the most jobs, housing options and entertainment choices. Although it’s not the cheapest island to live on, its higher salaries help to compensate for the higher cost of living. Of course, everything comes with a price, and Oahu’s traffic is quickly becoming infamous. The Big Island boasts some of the most beautiful and varied scenery, the finest snorkeling, vibrant communities and, with a community of just 142,000, it enjoys the smallest population per area of any Hawaiian island, leaving you to enjoy one of the best places to live in Hawaii in peace and tranquility. The island overall is extremely safe, and the different areas and regions to live on island are all safe. The island hosts now annually just about 9.3 million visitors. This, in my opinion, can cause more of the trouble you see around then from the residents. The tourists letting loose on island creates more of a safety issue then the permanent residents in my opinion.
